What factors made you choose Point Park for your M.B.A.?

Strong international business program, flexible schedule geared toward the adult learner and competitive cost.

What does your current position entail?

I am responsible for the global strategy of the organization, which incorporates partnership development, program management and implementation of initiatives involving ONS members and customers working outside the United States. I initiate, coordinate and evaluate educational programs that increase the capacity of nurses globally to lead the transformation of cancer care, and work with internal and external stakeholders to implement both revenue-generating and mission-based activities that support ONS' global objectives. I also seek and foster collaborative partnerships among international oncology-related organizations, nursing coalitions and individual members.

How has the knowledge gained in the M.B.A. program helped you in your career?

The M.B.A. program challenged me to remain up to date on world events, which is essential to my position and career. Managing budgets, strategizing ROI and cultivating relationships with organizations and individuals in multiple countries are essential skills I learned in the program.

What were some of your favorite experiences as a student at Point Park?

I really enjoyed meeting classmates with similar interests and goals and interacting with professors who are truly interested in what they are guiding you to learn. I met lifelong friends, including my husband, in the program!

What are your career goals?

I enjoy working in an international capacity and hope to maintain this focus.

What's your advice for individuals working in the health field who are considering an M.B.A. degree?

I think some of the key aspects of an M.B.A. -- namely, the finance, economics and accounting, regardless of focus area -- are essential for someone wishing to increase their business and leadership capacity in the health field.

Is there anything else you'd like to add?

The accelerated option was a great feature of this program, although I definitely encourage new M.B.A. students to take the full semesters.
